Wisdom is not knowing everything—
but knowing the presence
and the absence of the One.
Faith in God
is not about understanding everything,
but trusting the relationship
with the One who loves us.
Love never discourages—
but faith in others does.
In the absence of our control
comes the presence
of His freedom and peace.
-- Presence and Absence, Yuan-Wei Pi
This is the 67th weekly prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Hallowed be Thy name.
I pray that You will be present in this city, and that Your presence will fill this city. We have prayed many times for revival. We have prayed many times for reformation. But above all, what we need most is You alone. It is Your presence.
So Lord, please teach us what it means to live in Your presence. Teach us the meaning of Your name, and teach us what Love truly is, and teach us who You are.
Help us not to remain silent in the face of brokenness. Do not allow our hearts to become numb to the pain around us. Bring us convictions, and help us to obey them—not merely through our deeds, but by being thoroughly renewed in our hearts, minds, and souls. So Lord, bring us convictions and teach us how to serve.
In times of spiritual drought, remind us to turn to You first, because You are the living water. If we are in You, there is no drought. You are our Shepherd; we shall not want. So help us. Meet us in our doubts, have mercy on us, and reveal the truth. Unite us in that truth, and teach us that in the truth we can truly experience freedom and peace.
So Lord, I ask You to bring peace to this city. May Your Spirit go to every corner of this city, speak clearly to Your children throughout the city, and remind us that with You, nothing is impossible.
So Lord, please restore our spiritual lives and renew our understanding of You. Help us to remain in Your presence, keep us in Your love, and help us to follow where Your Spirit leads.
I pray all these things in Your holy name.
Amen.
